The apartment was beautiful and the location was breath taking, we loved our stay. Tina and Phillip were always friendly and responsive. They very kindly offered to do our shopping before we arrived for a small fee.
They also took the time to give us a low down on all the local shops and restaurants which transformed our trip.
They also helped organise a return taxi to the airport, so overall, they were excellent hosts and we could thoroughly recommend them.
We had a great stay at Camelot house. The house is in the most spectacular spot! Camelot is perfectly positioned in front of a little cove that is completely idyllic.
It’s an easy 2 min an walk into Hastings along the boardwalk which extends for about a mile along the coast.
Philip and Tina were great and able to answer questions throughout.
We would absolutely stay at Camelot again!
We stayed 10 days at the Upper Camelot and it was even more amazing than what you see in the photos! Check-in was easy, Tina and Jason were there when we arrived and gave us the low-down on our place as well as some helpful tips on the community and Barbados!
The house is perfection! It’s right on the beach, you just head out your door and down the stairs and there you are! There are two balconies overlooking the beach as well, one huge one off the living-room and one off the main bedroom.
It’s within walking distance to lots of local amenities and you can get to everything by talking a beautiful boardwalk along the beach!
I highly recommend booking the Upper Camelot, we would definitely stay there again! You won’t be disappointed!
Stunning accommodation in an ideal location. The view from the balcony is breathtaking and the beach behind the house is beautiful. Would stay again!
Philip and Tina were very responsive and helpful hosts.
Lovely place for a family , great location right on the beach and walking distance from shops and places to eat. Accommodation was comfortable. The main balcony was lovely in the morning.
Phillip and Tina were very helpful during our stay. Would be happy to recommend and would stay there again.
This place is absolutely wonderful. The location is very convenient. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. You’re a few steps from the start of the boardwalk.
The beach in front on the unit is quiet and there are lounge chairs available.
The hosts are very helpful, and were able to help us out on short notice when we needed something. The unit is very spacious, kitchen had everything we needed. The view from both balconies is amazing.
Tina & Philip were wonderful hosts, very easy to communicate with before and during our stay. The property is incredible – it’s perfectly located and the view from the balcony is out of this world!!
This is an excellent property, very spacious, great layout, good facilities, fantastic views and it’s on the beach. Bed in master bedroom was big and very comfortable. Large showers in both bathrooms that worked well. Big fridge. Very helpfull, prompt and good communication from the owner. We had a fantastic and very relaxing two weeks here. Easy 20 minute drive from the airport. We really liked the location, easy walk to restaurants and bars, especially along the boardwalk. This is definitely a property we’d use again, can’t recommend highly enough.
I felt like King Aurthur
If you want a spectacular place on the beach, you have to stay at Upper Camelot. The view is something you see in a magazine. This home featured all the amenities that we could need and close to stores, restaurants and local attractions. We will be back!
What a wonderfully inspiring and relaxing experience it is to stay at Upper Camelot. Excellent hosts, lovely architecture, all amenities , beautiful sea and friendly people. What more could you wish for?
Our visit to Camelot was a much needed family beach holiday and we were so excited to see the beautiful beach house and views were just like the pictures!! There is a beautiful boardwalk steps from the back door. We enjoyed the convenience it offered as well as the quiet of the sheltered beach area directly in front of the house. The interior of the beach house was immaculate and what you can’t see from pics is that the mattresses are very comfortable, much appreciated! We hope to return and thanks Mark for sharing this home with others! A beautiful gem!
Overall this was a great apartment to spend a week in. The proximity to the beach and highway was really convenient, and the view is obviously beautiful. That said, in an attempt to make this review useful, here are some things that aren’t obvious by looking at the listing: * Has air conditioning in every room in the apartment, not just in the bedrooms.
This home is absolutely magical. It is 2 stories with 2 absolutely gorgeous balconies, a very large kitchen, and very tall ceilings in the bedrooms. The view, the space, the location and the service were stunning. I hope to be lucky enough to stay here again. Thank you SO much!
My husband and I have stayed at Camelot house six years in a row, and can’t imagine staying anywhere else when we travel to Barbados each winter. The location cannot be beat – it is right off the boardwalk on the south coast, which allows us to enjoy our morning walk/run right outside our door. Everything is within walking distance – great restaurants, shopping, groceries, and anywhere else you may wish to go is accessible by the local ZR vans (look for the white vans with the burgundy stripe on the side – listen for their wide variety of horn signals as well!) or by blue or yellow buses, which provide safe and efficient travel across the island for $1 US each way. You don’t need a car – although having said that, we finally summoned up the courage to rent a car and will definitely do so in the future again, even for a few days, it’s well worth it to have a car to get to some of the more out of the way spots – such as Little Bay or St. Nicholas Abbey. Beaches are plentiful and varied – if you have young children, the shallow pools in front of Camelot House are perfect, and a little farther in is a deeper ‘swimming pool’, which is the perfect size with calm water, backed and surrounded by a rock reef. At the end of the boardwalk to the left of Camelot is Accra Beach which has more vigorous waves. Going to the right leads to Coconut Court, where you can spend the day lounging under the delightful span of coconut palms, and enjoy their wonderful rum punch and two extremely reasonably priced happy hours at their beach bar. Lower Camelot has the most expansive and fabulous deck which we absolutely adore. The first time we rented this place, we spent the majority of our time simply savouring the view and stayed on the deck a good portion of the day. After six times, we still enjoy the view and the exotic tree which has grown around and become a staple feature of the deck, with its welcoming and necessary shade particularly in the afternoon. There is comfortable furniture in the living area, cable TV and movies, which we watch in the evenings. The kitchen doesn’t have an oven, which is the one thing we desperately miss. The tiny toaster style oven takes a lot longer to cook food in, but at least there is some type of an oven as I love to cook my fresh fish in an oven. The king size bed is firm and very comfortable, and also has a mosquito net overtop in case you wish to leave the windows open at night.
We have no hesitation in giving Upper Camelot 5* as it was perfect in every way. We booked for next year while we were there. The location is amazing as you are right on one of the most beautiful beaches. Every day we watched turtles from the verandas and sat mesmerised by the brilliant turquoise colours. We used the sun-loungers from the SoCo (next door) as the hotel wasn’t full and they seemed quite relaxed about this. However, there are sun-loungers provided in Camelot. It is just a few steps to the water’s edge and we were able to wallow for hours. The proximity of Camelot meant that we could nip in for drinks etc. whenever we wanted. We fell in love with the design of the house and admired the wonderful timber ceilings and the unusual shapes. The doors are particularly interesting as they finish at a point (hard to describe!). Mark also designed and made most of the furniture so that it all co-ordinates. The beds have cute pineapple cut-outs in the head boards and the coffee tables are inlaid with the same tiles as the bathrooms. The terraces are particularly beautiful; we sat on the top one for early morning coffee and then moved down to the larger one off the lounge for breakfast, lunch and to watch the sun go down. There are plenty of excellent restaurants nearby and we dined out each night. We particularly loved Tapas, Naru and Champers. It’s well worth booking ahead to get water-side tables. We also love the Coffee Barbados Cafe for breakfasts and lunches. it is nearby, in the grounds of the George Washington House. We could easily have cooked in Camelot if we’d wanted to as the kitchen was well-equipped. There is a little farmer’s market nearby on Wednesdays and Saturdays where you can buy artisan breads etc. We thought the food in Barbados had gone up significantly since last year, both in supermarkets and when dining out. This must be awful for the locals who earn so little. We decided not to hire a car as prices are really expensive and we were quite happy to use the local ZR buses for trips to restaurants etc. A tip – if a bus roars up and screeches to a halt, maybe wait for the next one to come along as the driver will most probably continue driving in this reckless manner. Some are steady and others seem to have a death wish. It’s fun to travel with the locals, though, and they are very friendly. The ZR buses cost 2BD, wherever you go. Mark was a gracious host who went out of his way to welcome us.
This is just a short note to say that we all very much enjoyed our stay at Lower Camelot from the 3rd to 13th December. It was a great experience for our family and one we shall remember fondly. We would also like to thank you and the housekeeping staff for looking after us – they were very unobtrusive but very efficient.
A big thank you to you for allowing us the use of the premises on our last day which made a massive difference to us before we set off for the airport – it was very much appreciated by all of us, so thank you.
Now we are home and back at work and the usual daily life with temperatures of -5C at the moment. It’s not the same having a rum punch in your house with the heating on and no sun!!
Anyway Alexis thanks again for your input to our special holiday.
Best Wishes
Garry, Agnes, David and Amy.
This is a perfect property in every sense of word: location, decor, balcony views, amenities. It’s within walking distance of great restaurants and shopping. My husband and I were just thrilled with the place and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a break from winter weather. In terms of pricing, it’s an incredible bargain!
Villa was awesome, been to Barbados more times then I can count and have to say this place is at the top of my list of places to stay at. Everything you need is walking distance. The boardwalk is a bonus, takes you to other beaches as well as restaurants.
The Unit itself is very spacious and everything you need to feel like you’re at home. The sunsets are awesome at the end of the day when sitting out on the deck with your rum punch.
We will definitely be returning soon!!
We have just returned from a 2 week holiday in Upper Camelot and can honestly say that it is the best apartment we have ever rented! Upper Camelot was perfect for our family, we have 2 teenagers, one male and one female, so their bedroom was very large and actually had 3 single beds in it and therefore was not a problem for them to share the room. The apartment is so well equipped which does make it feel like a home from home.
We thoroughly enjoyed having our breakfast on the balcony each morning, staring out at the spectacular sea view. We even spotted sea turtles on several occasions.
The location of the apartment is very convenient, close to supermarkets, restaurants and bus stops if you wish to travel around.
On arrival, we were met by Alexis who is very friendly and informative. Should there have been any issues then she was only a phone call away but we did not need to call her as everything went smoothly. We would not hesitate to recommend Camelot to family and friends. We only arrived back home this morning but we are missing it already. We hope to return one day.
We needed a place to accommodate 11 the first week and 5 the second week, as our adult kids & their friends joined us the first week. Camelot House turned out to be the perfect place. By renting the whole place the first week, 11 of us enjoyed ourselves and didn’t feel cramped. The second week, we had just the upstairs apartment and it worked great.
Alexis is so helpful in the planning stages. She answered all our questions and did a little shopping for us, so we would have some basic foods after our late arrival. We only had one issue with an electrical outlet not working and it was fixed within 2 days. We knew Alexis was only a phone call away, if needed. Juliette does such a wonderful job of cleaning and is such a wonderful ambassador of Barbados, as she is so friendly and welcoming.
The beach right off the back porch has a rocks to ease the waves and provide a small pool area. It is so nice that it is also popular with the locals and we were able to meet a number of Barbadians while going for a swim. One recommended The Stream restaurant, where he works, and it turned out to be an excellent dinner.
We would certainly stay at the Camelot House again when we visit Barbados again.
Beautiful Apartment With big lovely rooms, huge balcony with great seaview.
Nice decor, fully equipped kithchen. This Apartment has everything you need.
We rented the entire home for 10 nights and the place was fabulous. The property manager, Alexis, took care of our every need for anything that arose during their our stay. I would highly recommend renting this location and if anyone has any questions they should contact Alexis who was incredible to deal with.
We stayed at Lower Camelot this year for a 2 week period. We have been return customers for a few years now and have also stayed at the Upper Camelot last year. Camelot House has everything you need for a relax getaway. The view is unbeatable and the location is walking distance to some very nice restaurants. The farmer’s market nearby is now open on Wednesdays and Saturdays. A very convenient place to stock up on fresh produce. Grocery stores are also easy to get to by bus with a bus stop right next door.
The Upper Camelot is very spacious with a full kitchen. The Lower Camelot though smaller, has an unbeatable veranda with its very own almond tree which provides ample shade and privacy. Mark Hiorns (owner) and Alexis (property manager) are very friendly and always reachable for any assistance required. They take very good care of their clientele.
This house is suited to both couples or families and is safe and secure. Easy to lock up at night. The beach is safe for young children. We are already booked for next year and look forward to another blissful holiday.
